60 couples, both young and old, spent their Valentine's Day together onboard the Stewart's Riverboat at Marina South Pier. It was especially an unforgettable experience for Mr and Mrs Tan whose parents boarded the ship of celebration with them.

Mr and Mrs Tan only recently got solemnised by Mr Raymond Wee, Family Life Champion of Kampong Ubi - Kembangan constituency and a Licensed Solemniser. For the elderly couple, the economic downturn that led to a reduction in their work hours has allowed them to spend more time with each other.

Hence, when their son and daughter-in-law invited them to spend Valentine's Day with them, they agreed readily.

It was definitely a night of romance, fun and excitement not only for the Tan family, but for all participants onboard the love boat.

Daddies gathered on a Sunday morning to participate in a series of educational and bonding activities with their children. Activities include Father and Children Look-alike contest, Reading with Dads, Health Screening, Healthcare and Financial workshops.

The event provides a platform for fathers to share parenting tips with one another and at the same time bond with their children through the educational activities. Healthcare and financial workshops conducted by the government agencies also equipped the men with essential knowledge to help them become responsible father and husband in the family.

Moulmein FLC, Ah Hood Gardens RC, Goldhill NC and Rajah Court RC organized a Family Day and Charity event at the Singapore Flyer and the Marina Barrage with Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts RADM (NS) Lui Tuck Yew and his family as Guests-of-Honour. Held on a bright warm Sunday of 17 May 2009, the event attracted a total of 350 participants including 15 residents from the Singapore Christian Home for the Aged who were sponsored for the ride on the Flyer. Participants also helped in raising fund for the home. Guest-of-Honour, Mr. Lui kicked off the line dance session and flagged off the Brisk Walk Group before accompanying the wheelchair-bound SCH residents on their Flyer ride. It was a great family outing, thoroughly enjoyed by the participants who also visited the Marina Barrage after lunch.

Organised by the Ayer Rajah-West Coast's Family Life Champion (FLC), Ms Pauline Sim, PBM, this event has brought dating to another level. Held on 31 May 2009 at Kallang Riverside Park, 30 singles were given the opportunity to make new friends while sitting in dragon boats in the middle of the river. The rocky boat added to the thrill and novelty as the men had to be more careful when they changed seats every three minutes. All in all, participants were treated to an evening of fun and laughter which paves the way for more interesting and fresh ways for speed dating.

The Moulmein FLC, together with Ah Hood Gardens RC, Balestier NC and Goldhill NC organized a Family Day outing to visit the Kangxi Emperor Exhibition at the Asian Civilisation Museum and the Peranakan Museum on Sunday, 6 June 2009. 157 residents who participated in the event thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour of the Kangxi Emperor exhibition and the Peranakan Museums's ten galleries - featuring various aspects of Peranakan culture, especially the special ‘Baba Bling’ Peranakan jewelry exhibition. They were treated to a sumptuous Hi-Tea buffet on board The Riverboat at Marina South. Members of the Goldhill NC Dance Club led the participants in a lively session of dancing during the tea break.

Grandma's Recipes Interest Group - Inaugural Gathering by Yio Chu Kang FLC

Mdm Hasna Bte Salleh, a 64 year-old grandmother of 9 grandchildren, together with the assistance of her 19 year-old grandson, shared her traditional home-cooked recipe, Roti Jala with other grandmothers and their grandchildren during the group's inaugural gathering.

The grandchildren assisted their grandmothers in the preparation of the cuisine. Grandmothers of the interest group took turns to share a traditional dish from their ethnic group at the group's monthly gatherings. The interest group serves as a platform to build closer intergeneration ties between grandparents and grandchildren through cooking. It also promotes inter-racial bonding through sharing of traditional recipes from the different races.

The group was set up to provide a platform for mothers and their spouses to share experience and tips in breastfeeding and bonding with their babies.

Joy of Cooking Interest Group - Inaugural Gathering by Moulmein FLC

Moulmein FLC, together with Moulmein Goldhill NC held a successful "Joy of Cooking With The Family" Workshop on Sunday, 6 September 2009. The aim of the workshop was to provide an opportunity for family bonding and to promote strong family ties through the joy of cooking and baking. More than 20 participants came in families of two or more - husband and wife, mother and daughters and/or sons. The enjoyable workshop was conducted by Goldhill NC member, Ms Marianne Lim with the assistance of her husband, Steve and daughter, Samantha. They shared recipes for Spaghetti Bolognaise, Spaghetti Carbonara, Spinach salad and Molten Chocolate Cake & Ice Cream.

60 singles met at 60m high to speed date during a 2 hour cable car ride from the Jewel Box to Sentosa. This event was the finale of "Speed Dating on Air, Land and Sea". Organised by Ayer Rajah–West Coast Family Life Champion, Pauline Sim, PBM, Speed Dating on Air provided a novel and romantic platform for singles to make friends. All singles met in the cable cars as the men moved from cabin to cabin in sequence while the ladies remained seated. After the exciting speed dating, they had a great time as they enjoyed drinks and played games to know each other better at the Moonstone at the Jewel Box.

Among them bears witness to the longest-standing union of 57 years. 2 other couples also embarked on their marriage journey by having their solemnisation ceremony held on this special day. 7 busloads of Nee Soon South residents and their family members explore the LTA's Gallery on Sunday 29 Nov'09. The Nee Soon Southerners were also treated to a guided tour of the National Museum and a half day tour to a mushroom farm at Seletar West before settling down for lunch at Kia Hiang Restaurant. Er Lee Bee Wah, MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC joined the group for lunch at the Restaurant to thank them for their participation and ensured that they had a good time together.

The Moulmein FLC and Tanglin CC IAEC jointly organized a "Joy of Cooking with the Family" Workshop on Sunday, December 6th Tanglin CC.

A very interesting demonstration of Indian Cooking was presented by the family of Mr. Appakannu Kabilan. Led by Mrs. Kabilan Tamilselvi, their daughter, sons and family member Ramay, showed the 30 participants how to prepare "Chicken Dum Briyani" and "Chettinad Prawn Masala".

The participants were treated to a sumptuous feast of the dishes prepared, accompanied by many helpings of iced chendol. All participants gave The Kabilan family a big "Thumbs Up" for a most enlightening and delicious cooking demonstration.

36 pairs of couples, including 25 pairs of grandparents, renewed their marriage vows and rekindled their love for each other on the first day of the decade, 1 January 2010. Amongst them was a pair of loving grandparents who have been married for 54 years! The ceremony was witnessed by the Guest-of-Honour, Mr Lim Boon Heng, Prime Minister's Office and Deputy Chairman of People's Association, as well as the couples' family members and friends. These couples and their family bear testament to the purity of true love and the importance of strong family bonds.

Queenstown Loving Heart Club members together with their spouses and partners helped the seniors residing in the rented units to do spring cleaning for the new year.

Members helped each others to solve teething problems such as communicating to the senior in dialects, paint stain on their hands, legs, shirts and hair.

The whole experience left many pledging to return for the next season.

Members of the Joy of Cooking Interest Group and their families gathered together to cook and share family's recipe on 7th March 2010 at Tanglin CC.

Ms Marianne Lim, assisted by her husband Steve and daughter Samantha shared her recipe on 'Nyonya Mee Siam'.

There was plenty of 'hands on' audience participation - not only from the ladies, but also from the many gentlemen in attendance.

A total of 23 particpants attended the workshop and later enjoyed a nice lunch of the 'Nyonya mee siam', Mung Bean dessert and plenty of fellowship and friendly chit-chat.
